Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program - Cost Share Grants

The National Park Service, Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's cost-share grant awards. The 2015 grant awards go to:

National Guard Armory Rehabilitation

Women on the Mother Road: Route 66 Interactive Website and Oral History Project

Boots Court Architectural Neon Restoration

Location: Carthage, Missouri

Lake Shore Motel Structural Rehabilitation

Location: Carthage, Missouri 

Recipient: Private Owner


The cost-share grant program provides grant assistance for eligible historic preservation, research, oral history, interpretative, and educational projects. Grants are offered through an annual, competitive grant cycle. Since 2001, 122 projects have been awarded $1.8 million with $3 million in cost-share match, totaling $4.8 million in public-private investment toward the revitalization of the Route 66 corridor.

Gino Girolamo De Pieri June 4, 1945 - July 9, 2015 The Cute Italian with a Big Heart leaves us suddenly after a long struggle with GIST, a rare cancer. Well known in the limousine industry as LimoGino, he also had long careers in the TV and Microwave repair. Gino donated much of his time to service clubs and charities and was generous supporter of the Italian Cultural Centre and the Italian Mutual Aid Society. Gino was predeceased by his sister Silvanna and parents Onorina and Giuseppe. He is survived by brother-in-law Frank Pezzutti and numerous cousins in Italy and Canada. A Funeral Mass will be held on July 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish, 6350 Nanaimo Street, Vancouver, BC. Viewing of the casket will begin at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery.
